Now that we have once again moved, we are looking into another presentation for the stereo gear.
The white oak and aluminum rack I made is a bit too 'light' in color to go with the darker (mahogany/walnut) wood accents of the other furniture pieces.
I drew up some rough plans to make something myself; however I thought we might be able to find something out there...
Starting at the bottom (IKEA) I found one thing that is a good size and a good color, but it is of course plastic laminate and not terribly attractive (read: it looks like crap).
Searching the usual suspects for furniture, most everything in the size we want is not deep enough to hold a pair of Counterpoint SA-220's.
So, I thought: "Hey! Let's take a look at Audio Advisor! They sell equipment racks..."
So I found one I like the design of, but it does not fit the space perfectly.
Item Number: WTCMV50 EBO
I need about 13 inches of height for the amps (to allow cooling) and also another shelf above for the preamp, phono preamp, CD transport and D2A. I can stack these things, so I need two other shelves to do that. The turntable will sit on top.
Here's the rub: It needs to be no more than 25-1/2" tall, and width should be around 45" wide. Depth needs to be 20", but if the back is open, I could get away with 19" deep and let the amps stick out the back a bit.
This looks interesting as well:
Item Number: SMSNC20 WALBLK
But even removing the doors (I think they are extra anyway) the height is not enough to allow the amps to cool properly.
Looking for any and all suggestions from AA as well as the other readers!
